RKW HyJet Long Life Fleece

RKW Fleece

A stronger, longer-lasting and smarter choice for your non-woven crop covers.

RKW HyJet® is a stronger, longer-lasting, and smarter solution for non-woven crop covers, designed to outperform traditional fleece in both durability and reliability. Built for repeated use, RKW HyJet® maintains its high performance across multiple growing seasons, making it a cost-effective and sustainable choice for modern agriculture.

Unlike standard crop fleece, RKW HyJet® delivers exceptional resilience under typical field conditions, helping growers protect crops more effectively year after year. Many existing users report achieving an average of 3–4 seasons of use, without any compromise in quality or protection.

As a result, RKW HyJet® has become the preferred and trusted non-woven crop cover among professional growers, particularly those specialising in baby leaf and salad crops who demand consistent, dependable performance.

Performs in the toughest conditions

Even in strong winds, the improved airflow properties significantly reduce flapping, minimising the risk of crop damage. Extreme durability – over 50% higher tear resistance – even if the fleece is punctured, compared with traditional nonwoven fleece which tears from any hole or damage incurred.

Save 50% across three seasons

Despite a higher purchase cost at outset. RKW HyJet® used over 3 seasons will cut costs by over 50% when comparing annual costs and landfill charges of a good quality traditional fleece.

Superior permeability throughout

Improved air, water and light transmission. Excellent water distribution, air permeability and superior light transmission support an ideal climate for yield and uniformity.

Hydro-entangled technology

Traditionally, agricultural fleece is made from non-woven, spun-bonded polypropylene (PP). The fibres are bonded together by melting points in the fibres to fuse them. However, these thermal bonded points actually weaken the material, which is one of the main reasons traditional fleece tears so easily. RKW HyJet® fleece is unique in the market. It is hydro-entangled rather than thermally bonded. During this process, fibres are entangled using high-pressure water jets from above and below, binding the fibres together without melting points – resulting in a much stronger, more durable, and overall higher performing crop cover.

Our existing customers are averaging 3-4 seasons through typical use and is now their preferred and trusted choice of fleece, especially amongst our leafy salad growers.

Minimum order for a batch is 24 rolls x 250m = 6,000 linear metres Lengths Standard lengths are 250m & 500m. • Reinforced edges are not required with this fleece. • Rolls are supplied on 3m long cardboard cores.
We carry a large range of fleece in stock but most of our fleece is made to order for each customer. Lead times vary from 2 to 6 weeks depending on time of year. For spring deliveries it is best to place any orders before Christmas to ensure delivery is made on time.
Fleece should be laid directly on top of the crop and secured with soil or sandbags. It must be laid as tight as a bed sheet otherwise it will catch the wind and flap damaging the emerging crop. RKW HyJet has 135% elongation stretch so it will expand as much as the crop growth requires. If securing with soil it is important not to use too much soil otherwise the fleece will be very hard to remove. Fleece can be left on the crop as long as required but it is normally advisable to take it off in June otherwise the crop below will start to suffer from heat stress. To remove the fleece simply pull out the edges and it can then be rolled up with a crop cover rolling machine and reused the following season if it is still in good condition.

More sustainable

Only ⅓ of the waste compared with disposal cycles of traditional fleece. It will advance certain crops by up to 4 weeks. It will help protect early crops from frost. It is possible to spray and irrigate the crop without having to remove the fleece. However, if spraying with sulphur or chlorine based products, this can damage the UV resistance and significantly reduce the lifetime of the fleece. Following such treatments, no claims can be accepted. It will offer protection from wind, rain, frost, birds and insects. Because it is a light weight cover and the fact that it has to be removed during the summer it is not ideal for insect protection. It has been designed as a thermal crop cover to advance harvest dates and protect crops from frost.
