The Advantages        

• Unbeatable protection from  insects and pests, including birds, rabbits, and deer
• Improved produce quality without using insecticides
• No harvest intervals required - simply lift the covers and start harvesting
• Increased pack out providing higher value crops
• Pack outs can be increased by as much as 10 - 50% on certain crops due to  improved quality and uniformity
• Harvesting higher quality produce significantly reduces labour in the pack house
• Stronger than fleece and it allows through 90% of natural light, 90% of rainfall and 70% of airflow making it easy to use
• The net protects young plants from wind, rain, and hail greatly improving establishment and plants per m2
• Various trace elements, foliar feeds and fungicides can be applied through the net to the growing crop
• Temperature increases by no more than 1.50C to give a natural growing environment that does not overheat during the summer
• More consistent growing conditions and greatly reduced temperature ranges between day and night. This has been proven by growers to significantly improve plant health and growth
• Due to their strong construction our nets can be re-used for up to ten years and then be recycled

The only disadvantages are extra labour required to lay and lift the nets but this is more than offset with improved pack outs and labour savings in the pack house
 
Weed control can be an issue as it is not always possible to inter row cultivate when the nets are in place

In conventional crops it is possible to spray certain herbicides effectively through the net and in organic crops it is possible to machine weed below the net

The net offers excellent protection from airborne insects, but it does not offer any protection from slugs so a carefully planned programme for control is required
